Serving Chicago and Suburban Families for over a Century

Our family has had the honor of serving generations of families on Chicago’s south side and south and southwest suburbs for over a hundred years. Three generations of the Sheehy family have been entrusted to care for families in their greatest times of need. Bob and Jim Sheehy currently maintain that trust in Orland Park and Burbank, as they continue to provide all of the services families need when they encounter the loss of a loved one. Along with the entire staff and family which includes five licensed funeral directors with combined experience of 90 years, we’ll ensure that the final moments spent with your loved one are taken care of with the compassion and professionalism we’ve honed over a century in service to you.

When the need for our services arise, we promise to do everything possible to make sure that your primary responsibility is comforting your family and friends. We’ll take care of all of the details that need attention. Feel free to contact us at any time of day or night, any day of the year, should any question or need arise. Commitment Describes the Sheehy Family.

“They understand tradition. They understand commitment. They understand accommodating people during a time of need.” Montini Catholic High School President and St. Rita Alumni Jim Segredo describes the Sheehy Family this way. They’re committed to their community and all of the communities they’ve served over the years. First class, excellent service, comfortable, those are words families use to express their experience at Sheehy. The Sheehy Reputation in Our Communities

Starting in St. Sabina and St. Leo Parishes near 76th and Halsted and now a century later to being located amid five large parishes in Orland Park, Sheehy Funeral Home has been a convenient location for families on the south and southwest side of Chicago and Suburbs for years. Our location in Burbank continues to serve communities and parishes in the near south suburbs. Something that hasn’t changed is how many families have carried their neighborhoods and the neighborhood feeling with them no matter where they’ve settled along the way. It’s still the southwest side of Chicago and as Jim Sheehy tells it “it’s truly a very unique place”. It’s also home to our families.

THERE’S AN AIR OF DIGNITY ABOUT SHEEHY FUNERAL HOME

[youtube+https://youtu.be/dCRhOMCK564]

Willie Winters is a long time Southsider, a neighborhood guy. He’s been attending wakes his entire life, starting with his grandfather decades ago. “With the Sheehy’s there was an air of dignity about the place; about Mr. (Robert Sr.) Sheehy and now that same air with Bob and Jim” Sheehy, relates Willie, adding “It’s personal to me”.  It’s personal to everyone who is in need of service from a funeral home. It’s personal to us. Whatever we can do to bring you comfort during and even after a loss, we’re here for you. If you have any questions about funeral services, (click here) and we will respond to you and answer any questions or concerns you might have.

THIS IS A FAMILY… THERE IS NO OTHER PLACE WE WOULD GO

When a death occurs, where would you turn first? To family, of course. When Pat Byrne’s family experienced a loss, they knew they could count on the Sheehy’s. They’re family to us. We’ve had a relationship for a long time. “Their service and professionalism is superior”, according to Pat. So much so, that he states clearly “There is no other place we would go”.

Inside and outside, we wanted Sheehy Funeral Home to feel more like a home.

“When we built our new funeral home in Orland Park, it gave us an opportunity to think a different way about how funeral services could be more comfortable for families and friends who visit during difficult times” says Kathy Sheehy, who created the new décor for the Orland Park funeral home. From softer colors, to large windows providing sunlight, to higher ceilings, to more comfortable furniture, to a large octagonal coffee room with a charming and cheerful patio feel, no detail was overlooked in creating a space that offered comfort. “The sitting areas outside of the visitation area itself are very important to our overall space” according to Bob Sheehy. Adding “Even when people come for Preplanning funeral arrangements, I can see how important these oases of comfort are to them. It’s important to us that people feel that while they’re here, this is their home”.
